This Sunday I will tell you a bit about how my designs come to life.  It is important for me to write down, because I am curious how my methods change during the next years. Though I had bought a cross stitch designing software I still use methods from the stone age. Papers, pencils and brushes.  All my cross stitch pattern exist in some kind of other art form.  Sometimes I like the painted version more, sometimes I found the stitched, simplified item more comforting.  I have a huge pile of printed grid papers I use.   I turn to the software only in the last run, when I am making the "official" pattern. The first stage is with pencil. I spend my free time these days sewing little lavender sachets.    My linens have a lavender scent in all season,  because I keep such sachets in my stash  -  they are too expensive to be desserts for moths, right?:) I was eager to design a little lavender motif, nothing complicated, a simple and feminine one.   I am very satisfied with the result.  I have also found very nice free lavender designs on Pinterest. IN HUNGARIAN: Mostanában levendula zsákocskák készítésével töltöm a szabadidőmet.  A lenvásznaim minden évszakban levendula illatúak, mert ilyen zsákocskákat rejtettem el a készletben - túlságosan sokba kerültek ahhoz, hogy molylepkék desszertjei legyenek, nem igaz? :-) Nagyon szerettem volna egy saját kis levendulás mintát kitalálni, semmi bonyolultat, csak egy egyszerű nőieset.  Elégedett vagyok az eredménnyel.  A Pinteresten is klassz ingyenes levendulás mintákat találtam. How is your weekend?  There is much excitement here, first of all I am getting my business  notes and designing folder ready to meet Nina next week who dyes the wonderful threads for my patterns.   I am to bribe her to dye linens for the  The Snowflower Diaries:-) I will nominate some of my needleworks for the national cross stitching exhibiton and contest that opens July 27 in Budapest.    My primitve, naiv style is not really "mainstream" here in Hungary, as gobelins and painting-look-alike works are the local celebs, but it is alright, no problem with that,  believe me.  I am more excited to meet many online stitching friends there!  Flesh and blood stitchers, finally!:-) Other designers are much better with timings and had already launched the summer designs, I hope my summer flowers, birds and mermaids will arrive before the autumn leaves, too:-) A sneak peak for today: IN HUNGARIAN: Hogy telik a hétvégétek? ...

Hello blogging world, I am very happy to celebrate the warmest season with you! As I have promised you on facebook , there are  lots of surprise to come this season, so take a yummie summer coctail with you and stay tuned!  New patterns, sneak peaks to the backstage, giveaways.  The Snowflower Diaries is going to launch new projects and expands its profile from cross stitch designs. I started this blog as a diary about my way in the needlework industry from ground zero, from a noname designer position, well, no, it is not correct, I am  further from that,  I began as a full-time lawyer and mother of many children who started stitching by night 2 years ago with 4 (four) threads (2 green and 2 pink, I think I had been burnt alive in the Middle Ages for this) on a cheap Tesco bedlinen. The pattern of the barefoot Summer Witch is now available, you are welcome to download it if you wish from here ! Before sending me to the Faculty of Tiny Ornaments and Small Designs, I tell you I am working on my first bigger sampler that I designed lately.  I hope I can publish it this autumn or winter.... we will see:-) Meanwhile I met a fellow stitcher, a very nice Hungarian lady from France, Judit and we visited the Sugarshop in Budapest with some of our children, look at these sweets and colours, mmmmm, we ate 'somlói galuska' and icecreams in blue cups, it was so much fun!
